VISITATION AND MEMORIAL SERVICE
A gathering of family and friends for Debbi Landis will be held on Friday, March 6, from 6 ' 8 p.m. at the New London United Methodist Church, 58 East Main St., where a memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7, at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
Deborah B. 'Debbi' Landis, 61, of New London died Thursday, February 19, 2009 at her
home. She was born September 22, 1947 in Washington D.C. to the late Joseph and
Helen (Kincaid) Byrnes. She had lived in Arlington, VA and spent 25 years in
Wellington; moving to New London 10 years ago. Debbi graduated with the class of
1965 from Yorktown High School in Arlington, VA. She received a major in vocal performance, with a minor in education from the University of Miami, Florida.
Debbi was co director and director for the Oberlin Senior Inc. She also worked for
Fare and Frills Bulk Foods and Specialty Baked Goods in Wellington. She was an active
member of the New London United Methodist Church and directed the church choir. She was also a member of the New London Garden Club and the Firelands and New London Historical Societies. Debbi sang with the Oberlin Chamber Singers for more than 25 years. She was especially fond of the picture of a lion lying with a lamb and the peace that they represent. Debbi was the type of person that always put the concern for other people over herself.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Richard W. Landis; numerous sister and brother-in-laws; cousins; nieces and nephews; and her cat 'Miss Scarlett Marie.'
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London is in charge of arrangements.
