Delmar Lee Jenkins, 73, of New London, died Friday, December 17, 2021 at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. Born on December 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Ruth Jenkins. Delmar attended school in PA and enlisted in the US Army in 1965, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He made his home in New London in 1974.

Delmar retired from Norwalk Furniture after 31 years as a truck driver. He was happiest behind the wheel of a vehicle, having driven bus in Washington DC as well driving trucks for King B Rowland in New London. In 2009 he began driving school busses for New London, taking over the route to Ehove. He also drove for the New London Band, including trips to FL and DC. Delmar truly loved his band kids and enjoyed not just driving them but supporting them and watching their performances. Delmar was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, the Fitchville Conservation League, and joined the Mason Lodge in 1974.

A jack of all trades, Delmar was skilled in everything from welding to electrical, and was always the first to help anyone. Though his skills as a fix it man were great, Delmar truly mastered being a loving husband to his wife Linda. He and Linda enjoyed many years of camping at Country Stage Campground, where they made numerous friends. They also enjoyed traveling across the country on their Goldwing motorcycle, going from coast to coast and up into Canada.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Linda (nee Burleson) Jenkins, whom he married on May 12, 1973; son, David (Heather) Jenkins, of Lebanon, Missouri; grandchildren Dakota, Mayah, Aiyanna; siblings Sandra (Tim) Golden, of Warrenton, VA, and Sheila Ringer, of Uniontown, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Delmar was preceded in death by his mother Ruth.
