Denis Robert Hatala, 57, of Walhonding died unexpectedly Monday, March 16, 2009 at Knox County Community Hospital. Denis was born April 16, 1951 in New London and was a 1969 graduate of New London High School. He lived in New London until 1986, when he moved to Coshocton County. Denis operated his own dairy and crop farm. He loved spending time with his grandkids. Denis is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty (nee Weimer); stepdaughter, Gina (Barry) Gundlach of New London; stepson, Robert (Becky) Kinter of Nova and two grandsons, Michael Bailey and Alex Gundlach. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Jack) Underwood of Oak Harbor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert G. Hatala and Fay L. Hatala Gerlach. Friends and family will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 20 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fitchville Cemetery. Contributions may be given to the Salvation Army Service Unit of New London, 12 Akron St., New London, OH 44851.
