Dennis (Denny) Courtland Edwards Sr., 78, passed away on July 12, 2024, in his home in Nova, Ohio.
Born in Ashland, Ohio on September 14, 1945, Denny was the son of Francis Edwards Sr. (Barnesville, Ohio, March 20, 1912) and Mildred (Plank) Edwards (Ashland, Ohio, December 26, 1919). Denny attended Ruggles Troy Schools through his sophomore year of high school, completing his high school career at New London High School. After Denny graduated in 1963, he began a career in construction working with Funk Construction, Hubbard Construction, and then starting his own construction business, M.A. Edwards Construction before retiring from the Carpenters Union in 1998. Additionally, Denny coached the Ruggles Troy Youth League and served for ten years as the Troy Township Trustee.
On May 9, 1964, Denny married Marcia Anna Crabbs in New London, Ohio. Building a life centered on love and family, Denny and Marcia had three children: Dennis C. Edwards Jr. born December 9, 1964, Brenda L. Reuer born February 10, 1966, and Jeffery S. Edwards born September 9, 1970.
Denny is preceded in death by his infant son, Jeffery S. Edwards; brother Duane Edwards, brother Francis Edwards, and Sister Janice Nichols, sister-in-law Jane Gainey, sister-in-law Nancy Edwards, sister-in-law, Linda Crabbs, brother-in-law Chuckie Crabbs, brother-in-law Carl Crabbs.
He is survived by brother and sister-in-laws, Edgar Crabbs, Pat Edwards, Kenny Nichols, Jim Crabbs and Ann Crabbs, Susan and Harold Paramore, Dean and Doris Divins, sister-in-law Sara Crabbs, sister-in-law Joann Neisner. His wife, Marcia Edwards; son Dennis C. Edwards Jr. married to Cynthia A. (Young) Edwards, daughter Brenda L. Reuer married to James Reuer, grandchildren Amanda (Jon) Harrison, Nicholas (Jonni) Reuer, Shelby (Jared) Wynn, Aubrey (Matt) Latham, Faith (Bryce) Lutz, and great grandchildren Landon Harrison, Braylon Harrison, Ella Reuer, Corbin Reuer, Grady Reuer, Oakley Wynn, Kade Wynn, Grady Latham, and Lainey Latham.
Denny will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and community that he has faithfully served. He was a beloved cornerstone of his family who enjoyed every opportunity to help others, attend every sporting event in support of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and play cards. Dennis's love, care, laughter, work ethic, resilience, and huge heart will be carried on by his loved ones.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday, July 19, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London, OH 44851. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2291 W Fourth Street, Suite G, Mansfield, Ohio 44906.
