IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis
Finkel
March 18, 1958 – December 19, 2021
Dennis Lee Finkel of Huntington Township, Ohio passed peacefully away December 19, 2021. Dennis was born to Alvin and Mickey (Hamker) Finkel on March 18, 1958.
Dennis was a big guy. Not only did he stand well over a handsome six feet tall he had a large personality. He was a bit cocky (perhaps an understatement), he didn't lack in confidence, and had a huge heart. He said about himself "I always tried to treat people fairly and with respect."
Dennis leaves behind three strong and determined women and one strong and determined female warrior in training. Tammy, his daughter, beautiful and intelligent and will continued to feel her father's love forever. Cheyenne, his only granddaughter, learned early-on that one of Grandpa's favorite past-times was "pulling her chain," she too carries his capacity for deep love and determination. Wife Lyn was the love of his life. Diane his sister and dear friend.
Dennis's absence will leave holes in other lives as well including Butch and Shelia Holmes and Matt Combs who were there for every step of Dennis final journey allowing Lyn and Dennis to cry, smile, and find strength they didn't know they had. Dennis also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Many, many other people will miss his smile, his wicked sense of humor, his bigger than life ways and occasionally a boot on their butt.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of those who reached out to Dennis during his illness. The text messages, the phone calls, the prayers and greetings eased Dennis's mind. The responses from the residents of Huntington Township (including surrounding communities) and those from his fellow Township Road Men and others have filled the hearts of the family.
Dennis told Lyn that he would like to have "an event" to celebrate his life (he told her he would be there). The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life when the weather is a better. Dennis requested that people come armed with stories about his deeds…yes, the good, the bad, and the funny. Lyn has requested that you think of song that most reminds you of Dennis. The songs will be played at the event.
