Dennis James O'Donnell, 80, of Wellington, died Sunday, March 27, 2022 at home. Born on August 20, 1941 in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Hubert and Frances (nee Novak) O'Donnell. Dennis grew up on the west side of Cleveland and moved to Wellington in 2004.
Dennis served in the United States Navy as a submariner. He was a draftsman by trade and worked for Union Carbide and Anderson IBEC, before starting his own company, American Consulting. Dennis was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Parish. He was a talented craftsman and loved to build things and work with wood. Dennis also enjoyed playing ball, fishing, and boating. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Tana (nee Spelic) O'Donnell; children, Correen (Kevin) Brown, of Twinsburg, James (Sharon) O'Donnell, and Erin O'Donnell, both of Bay Village, Matthew (Christelle-Emma) O'Donnell and Hugh (Jennifer) O'Donnell, both of Rocky River, Michael (Pam) O'Donnell, of Pleasanton, CA, Brenna (David) DeVito, of Westlake, Eamon (Nicole) O'Donnell, of Rocky River, and Liam (Donna) O'Donnell, of North Ridgeville; 30 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, and 7 siblings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 siblings.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 1, beginning at 2 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Parish, 512 N. Main Street. Wellington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis' name may be made to The Special Olympics, www.specialolympics.org, or the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland, P.O. Box 41066, Brecksville, OH 44141.
