Diana C. Bates, 63, of Greenwich, died Friday, September 16, 2011 at The MetroHealth System, Cleveland after a short illness. Born in Medina, on October 31, 1947 to the late Rev. Myron and Mary-Jo (Bendler) Darmour. She lived in Medina, Durango, CO, France, New London and resided in Greenwich since 1982. She received a Bachelor's of Science in biology and masters in French Literature. Diana was a breast cancer survivor. Diana was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Ashland. She was a past president of New London Village Council and a Girl Scout Leader in Greenwich. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bill; a daughter, Mary-Jo Bates; brothers, Doug, Dwight and Dean Darmour; and a mother to those in need. Memorial services will be held 5 pm Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at St. Matthew's Church, 1313 Mifflin Ave., Ashland. A time of sharing will follow the service. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Cleveland Area, 20470 Lorain Rd., Cleveland, OH 44106, Cleveland Eye Bank, 11100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106 (Diana gave the Gift of Sight through eye donation) or St. Matthew's Church.
