Dilla Sue Seaman, 86, passed away peacefully at Wesleyan Village in Elyria on February 25, 2017. She was born on October 2, 1930 to the late Harold and DeLaura (nee Baden) Henes in Amherst.
Dilla was a 1948 graduate of Penfield High School.
Following graduation Dilla began her work as a nurse at Elyria Memorial Hospital. She was also a nurse at Wellington Hospital, Elms Retirement Village, Mercy Allen Memorial Hospital and Weber Health Care, serving others as an LPN in a career that spanned over 50 years.
Dilla enjoyed crafts and loved Longaberger baskets. She was a huge, loyal Cavs and LeBron James fan, both before, during, and after "The Decision". She was also part of the "Happy Hearts" group in Wellington which crocheted hats for infants and newborn children.
Dilla is survived by her children, Tim Smith of Spencer, Tom Smith of Penfield, Kim Smith-Brooks of Wellington, Ted Smith of Willard and Jennifer Seaman of Penfield; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren (with one on the way). In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Seaman, brother Lowell "Buzz" Henes and aunts Wilma Baden-Szabo and Clarabelle "Obbie" Baden.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 2 pm until the 4 pm service at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, Ohio 44090. A time of food and fellowship will follow at the Wellington Eagles for friends and family. Burial will take place at a later date at Penfield Cemetery.
