IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolores Tusinski
Holmes
April 7, 1950 – February 16, 2020
Dolores Tusinski Holmes, 69, of Wakeman, went on to Heaven Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. Born in Norfolk, VA on April 7, 1950, Dolores spent most of her life in Virginia, graduating from Indian River High School with the Class of 1969.
She possessed an entrepreneurial spirit owning her own house cleaning company for over 15 years. Dolores also owned "Wooden It Be Nice," where her husband Bill made wooden crafts and she hand painted them. She loved competitive figure skating and she was a member of the Tidewater Figure Skating Association and the United States Figure Skating Association. Dolores was also the runner-up for Miss Chesapeake when she was 19. She was a current member of New Beginnings Church in Amherst.
Dolores was a member of the Virginia Greenhouse Society and a talented gardener. She was a Sunday School teacher at Fairview Church of Christ for close to 40 years. One of her favorite hobbies was sewing, and she used her expertise to create clothing for her children, dresses for ice skating competitions, and also to make costumes and puppets for church programs. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a skilled painter using her talents to make custom ornaments to raise funds for churches built in Pakistan.
Passionate about music, Dolores sang and played the bells, guitar, fife, and piano (a talent she passed on to her daughter). She performed on "Sandy The Clown", a children's show on Channel 13 along with her dog, Dutchess. She played as Raggedy Ann at children's birthday parties with her brother, Joey, as Andy.
Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, William Holmes III; her daughters, Anita (Eric) Forgacs, of Wakeman and Megan (Curtis) South, of El Paso, TX; and two grandchildren, Lia and Liam (Anita). She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Tusinski and Willie (Bunton) Sawyers and her brother, Joey Tusinski.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20 from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Funeral Service at New Beginnings Church, 591 Washington St., Amherst with Minister Matthew Raines officiating. In lieu of flowers, the Holmes family suggests donations in memory of Dolores to the church. Condolences can be given at: www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
