Donald L. Fahler, 85, of Wellington died Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Elms Retirement Village. He was born of January 1, 1928 in Strattanville, Pennsylvania to the late Leroy and Mary (Sleppy) Fahler. Don grew up in Chatham and moved to the Wellington area as a young adult. Donald poudly served in the United States Army and the National Guard during the Korean Conflict.
Following his time in the service Don owned and operated Fahler's Garage in Wellington. He was active in his community, serving as president and vice president with both Wellington Schools and the Lorain County JVS. Donald was also a zoning inspector for Wellington TWP and served with the Wellington Auxiliary Police Department.
Donald is survived by his children, Elaine Dobney of Wilmington, Carl Fahler and Norma FahlerMayer both of Wellington, Dolores Fahler of MI, and Wally Fahler of Wellington, 15 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Gerald Fahler of Wellington. Don was preceded in death by his step-father, Ellis "Doc" Caywood, brother, Ivan Fahler and sister, Ila Farrar.
Friends will be received on Thursday, April 11 from 10-12 with a Memorial Service starting at 12 p.m., Pastor Larry Nocella officiating.
