Donald "Donnie" Nickoli, 91, of Norwalk, passed away Monday morning, September 5, 2022, at Assurance Health Hospital in Toledo.
Donnie was born in Norwalk, OH, on June 15, 1931, to the late Bernice (Swope) Nickoli and Jacob Nickoli.
Donnie was a 1951 graduate of Norwalk High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was a dedicated employee of 39 years at Norwalk Furniture. In his retirement years, he was a crossing guard for Norwalk Schools. Donnie was a member of the Eagles, VFW, AMVETS, and St. Paul Catholic Church. In his spare time, Donnie enjoyed Dart ball, playing in a fastpitch softball league, and helping his in-laws work on the farm.
Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley (Sickinger) Nickoli, whom he married on February 6, 1960; 2 daughters, Elaine (Jeff) Schaffer of Norwalk, and Susan (Tony) Caprara of Norwalk; 9 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene White, and a brother in infancy.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, from 2 pm to 5 pm at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH 44857.
