Donald Andrew Schmitt, 94, of Wellington, died Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Keystone Pointe. Born on December 17, 1928 in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Melvin and Beatrice "Ruby" (nee Seymour) Schmitt. Don was a 1952 graduate of Olmstead Falls High School. Donald proudly served in the United States Army and Air Force and was stationed in Frankfurt Germany.

Donald worked for Ohio Bell out of both Berea and Columbus, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge as well as American Legion Post 8 and Amvets Post 32. A jack of all trades and a master of none, Don enjoyed working on antique cars, crafting stained glass, and was a talented woodworker. He also enjoyed collecting and working on model trains.

Donald is survived by his children, Deborah (Frank) Radachi, of Wellington, Jeffery (Gayle) Schmitt, of Wellington, and Gregory (Lesley) Schmitt, of Hudson, FL; daughter-in-law, Elaine Schmitt; 5 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Arlene "Trixie" (nee Surman) Schmitt and son William Schmitt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with burial to follow at Penfield Cemetery. Donations in Donald's memory may be directed to New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Road, Lorain, 44053.
