Doris Mae Bauer, 88, of Bellevue, died Friday, June 11, 2010 at The Willows at Bellevue. Born in Clarksfield on August 10, 1921 to the late George and Edna (nee Campbell) Smith, Doris attended New London High School and worked for CE Ward and Penny's. For most of her life, Doris lived in Elyria. Doris was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting. For many years she had her own ceramic studio in Elyria and was a member of the Mud Hens Ceramic Club. Doris also loved making wedding cakes and traveling. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Elyria, the Lake Erie Gem and Geological Society and the Meddlers Camping Club. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Paul; children, Richard (Nelda) Bauer of St. Cloud, FL, Dennis (Joyce) Bauer of Bellevue and Judy (Howard) Reisig of Woodstock, GA; 5 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Doris is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith of New London. She was preceded in death by her siblings, George, Louis, Maurice and Ruth Smith and Marge Burras. Friends and family will be received from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, June 14 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London and also from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with Pastor Karen Kay officiating. Burial will follow at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery.
