Doris (nee Dangler) Irish, age 88, of Rochester Township died Monday, March 10 at New Life Hospice in Lorain after a short illness. Doris was born March 26, 1919 in Michigan. She moved to Wellington at the age of 7 and was raised by the Wadsworth family following a tragic accident. She was a 1938 graduate of Wellington High School.
She was a member of the Rochester United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Rochester Flares. Doris worked for the election board as a poll worker for many years. She enjoyed knitting, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Maurice A. Irish, Jr., of Wellington; three daughters, Mary Jane Cowie, Cindy (Cid) Irish, both of Rochester Twp., and Connie (David) Samay of Amherst; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Maurice Sr.; her sister, Agnes; granddaughter, Angela Marie Lacko; great-grandson, Tyler Bradley Lacko, and a nephew, Leonard Moffit, Jr.
Friends may call from 3-7 pm on Thursday, March 13th at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, where Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 2 pm. Rev. Christine Bell will officiate the service and burial will follow at Rochester Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made the Rochester United Methodist Church, 201 S.
