Colleen Doris Kistler, 84, of Sandusky, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky after a lengthy illness. She was born November 11, 1927, in Findlay, to the late George W. and Irma (Hinton) McDonald. Colleen lived in Elyria, Sheffield and New London before moving to Sandusky 5 years ago.
She was a switchboard operator with the phone company in Findlay. Colleen also worked at Elyria Memorial as a switchboard operator and several years at New London Schools and former New London Hospital.
Colleen sold Raleigh and Watkins products, taught vacation bible school and Sunday school.
Survived by her children, Eric (Carole) Kistler of Sullivan, Franz (Pamela) Kistler of Sandusky, Karen (Tom) Atskoff of Huron and Kristine (Rick) Looney of Heath; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine O., ex husband, Ray Kistler; grandson, Jonathan Kistler, great grandson, Jonathan Kistler and siblings, Robert McDonald, John McDonald, Tom McDonald, George Wesley McDonald, Jr., Ed McDonald, Joe McDonald and Thelma Kay Cervantes.
A visitation will by held Thursday from noon until the time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London with Pastor Doug Lang and Rev. Dr. Thomas McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the family in care of Eastman Funeral Home.
