Doris Henrietta Moffit, 82, of New London, died Saturday, January 06, 2018 at Metro Health in Cleveland. Born on November 17, 1935 in Erie PA, she was the daughter of the late Bertha (nee Baumgartner) and Frederick Haberman. Doris grew up in Nova and was a 1955 graduate of Ruggles Troy High School. Doris worked for the C. E. Ward Co. in New London and assisted in the family butcher shop. She served as a den mother in scouting for many years. Doris was an avid camper and traveled with the Sam's Club for many years. She also enjoyed square and round dancing. Survivors include her children Mike (Judy) Moffit Sr., of North Fairfield, Tim (Valery) Moffit, of Rochester, Fred Moffit Sr., of Monroeville, and Cindy Griffin, of North Fairfield; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sisters Barbara Watson and Caroline Miller. She was preceded in death by her loving husband whom she married on April 28, 1956, Lyle Moffit, and her brother Kenneth Haberman. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, January 9, at the Fitchville United Methodist Church, 1593 US Rt 250 South, New London, 44851, from 12-2 p.m. with services beginning at 2 p.m. Pastor Timothy McCollum will officiate and burial will take place at Fitchville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Fitchville UMC.
