Dorothy Louise Brooks lived nearly 98 years (97 years, 10 months, and 6 days) of a blessed existence, before being called home to Heaven in the early hours of December 30, 2025. Born February 24, 1928, in Willard, OH, Dorothy grew up as Dorothy Albright, daughter of William John Albright and Gladys Marie (Robinson) Albright. She was the youngest of three, with older brothers Donald and Rolland. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband Theodore, and daughter Ann.

She married Theodore Philip Brooks on December 3, 1948. Ted and Dorothy had six children: Christine (Tom) Ryan, Dean (Terri) Brooks, Daniel (Laura) Brooks, Carolyn (Jerry) Hedge, the late Ann Cannon, and Sharon (Patrick) Brown. She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Christine’s are Erin (Bernard) Elias: Molly & Cole Pergram, and Skyelar, Noah, & Elliot Elias; Tommy Ryan; and Megan (Michael) Finnern: Eileen & Dorothy. Dean’s are Jeffrey (Niki) Brooks: Evelynn, Andrew, Vivian, & Charlotte; Kimberly (Joshua) Schaublin: Haley, Landon, & Madison; Kelly (Scott) Wizenread: Olivia & Brooks; and Keith. Daniel’s are Renee (Vincent) Thompson: Olivia, Rebecca, Natalie, Jasmine, & Alexander; and Phillip. Carolyn’s are Jesse (Daniel) Hohenstein: William, Alexander, & Ethan; Jordan (Colleen) Hedge: Aidan & Logan; and Zachary (Kelley) Hedge: Myles, Lincoln, Bentley, & Layla. Ann’s are Sean (Liz) Walker: Arlo; and Ellen (Gustavo) Chavez: Annie & Enzo. Sharon’s are Joshua (Mikaela) Brown: Jude & Clementine; Melissa (Jake) Lehman: Clarice, George, & Julia; and Theodore (Rebecca) Brown: Dorthea, Karis, Felicity, & Forest.

Dorothy worked for Norwalk Public Schools while raising her six children and helping Ted run the family farm. In retirement, she worked part-time at P&R hardware. She had many fond memories with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren alike. She enjoyed crocheting baby sweaters for charity, making comforters at her church, and baking delicious pies. A devout Christian, she was a lifelong member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church of Norwalk, where she volunteered in many capacities.

There will be a viewing held at the Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, on Sunday, January 4, from 2 pm until 8 pm. Services will be held Monday, January 5, beginning at 10:30 am at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk. Interment will follow at 1 pm at Meadow Green Cemetery in Huron, OH.
