Dorothy L. Cook, 88, of Elyria, passed away at her home on August 22, 2025. Affectionately known as Dottie, she was born on March 19, 1937 in the Isle of Wight County, Virginia to the late Allie Lee (nee Cones) and Joseph Robert Cox. She loved growing up in Virginia and moved to Ohio in 1959.

In her younger years, Dottie was a roller-skating waitress for Dog N' Suds. She worked as a banker at Elyria Savings and Trust for many years before retiring from First Merit Bank as a compliance officer.

Dottie loved being a part of the women's bowling league at Cardi's Lanes. She enjoyed dancing and could always be found cheering on her Ohio teams – Ohio State, Indians, Cavs, and Browns.

She is survived by her children, James "Jim" (Doris) Cook, of Wellington, Kathy (Jay) Hissom, of Chippewa Lake, and Kim Cook, of Lorain; her sister, Nancy Warren;  6 grandchildren, Kevin (Melissa Powless) Cook, Kyle (Erinn Anderson) Cook, Rachel (Nathan) Joppeck, Ashley (Chris) Vidika, Tyler Hissom, and Travis Hissom; 3 great grandchildren, Maddox Joppeck, Addyson Joppeck, and Jayden Vidika and Dottie was excited about two more great grandchildren on the way. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Walter "Ray", and Allen Cox.

A private celebration of life will be held.
