Dorothy Hellen Godfrey, 93, formerly of Nova, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at The Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Ashland. She was born on August 8, 1922 in Toomsboro, GA, to the late Joseph and Rose (nee Novak) Zbasnik. As a child Dorothy's family moved to the Cleveland area and she later moved to Spencer and then to Nova.
During the Second World War Dorothy proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps. She was stationed in Texas and worked as an airplane mechanic. Dorothy retired from Weber Health Care in Wellington after 30 years. She was a member of the American Legion in Medina.
Dorothy is survived by her children, John W. (Myla) Godfrey, III. of New London, Arthur L. Godfrey of Nova, and William (Susan) Godfrey of Pittsfield; grandchildren, John Godfrey, IV, William Godfrey, Jr., Brett Godfrey, Ben Martin, and Brian Ehrlich; great-grandchildren, Ava Lyn, Trevor, Richard, and Tanner; and siblings, Paul, Patrick, Sylvia, Mary, and Christine.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Grover "Robert" Ehrlich; second husband, John W. Godfrey, Jr.; son, Ernest Joe Ehrlich; daughter, Bobbie Ann Martin; grandchildren, Laura Lyn and Joel and siblings, Joe, Thomas, and William.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, beginning at 10 a.m. a procession will leave at 12 p.m. for graveside services at Nova Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory may be directed to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, 44805.
