Dorothy L. "Dot" McClanahan, 77, of New London went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Fisher Titus Medical Center.  She was born on March 19, 1947, in Pikeville, KY; she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Kidd) Boyd.

Dorothy or Dot as most family and friends called her, was a fun, caring lady who loved with her whole heart.  She had a passion for cooking, always willing to try new recipes, yet was known for traditional southern meals she learned as a child.  She made certain you never left hungry or empty handed when visiting.   Dot enjoyed exploring new places and cherished the day trips taken with her sisters and daughter Wendy.  Throughout her life Dot was employed at Thomas Creative Apparel and Kent Sporting Goods in New London, before she found herself in Norwalk at Epic Technologies where she finished her career as a supervisor.  Dot was a long-time member of the New London Church of Christ.

Dot is survived by her son, Bill (Melody) McClanahan of Willard; 2 grandchildren, Hannah and Ian McClanahan of Willard; siblings, Barry (Deb) Boyd and Rhonda Boyd both of Kentucky.  Dot was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, William McClanahan on April 16, 2024, daughter Wendy Gifford in 2021 and sisters, Lynn Boyd, Margaret Dillon, Natalie Boyd and Valarie Boyd.

A joint Memorial Service for Bill and Dot will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the New London Church of Christ, 130 Third St. New London; a luncheon will follow at the Village Hall, 12 James Street, New London.   Online condolences and fond memories may be shared with the family by visiting www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
