Dorothy Taber Lant, of New London, died Sunday, August 10th at the New London Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, at the age of 99. Dorothy was born June 14, 1909 in Dorchester, Mass. She also lived in Chicago, Ill., Concord, New Hampshire and had lived in New London since 1993. She was a High School Graduate of Practical Arts in 1927. Dorothy was a secretary for the Massachusetts Council of Churches, Kiwanis International in Chicago, Ill. and the New Hampshire Conference United Church of Christ in Concord, New Hampshire. She later worked for the offices of WEVO PBS Radio in Concord, New Hampshire where she retired in 1992. Dorothy was a member of the Community Chorus in Concord, NH and the Swedish Choral Club of Chicago, Ill. Dorothy was active in the Business and Professional Women in Evanston, Ill and New London, OH. Dorothy is survived by 3 daughters, Norma (Tom) Sawyer and Audrey Phelan both of New London, Shirley Watson of Vermilion; 12 grandchildren, Heidi (Ken) Rice of New London; 37 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter F.W. and Mary Anna Taber, 2 brothers, 1 sister and ex-husband Weston F. Lant in 1986. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13th at Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
