Dorothy Osterland, 76, of New London, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Elyria Memorial Hospital. She was born February 16, 1934, in Michigan, daughter of the late Wojchech and Michalina Olshewski. Dorothy had lived in the Fitchville area most of her life. She attended New London schools. Dorothy had worked at Westinghouse in Norwalk and at Kent Sporting Goods in New London. She attended the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Norwalk. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, her great granddaughter, Alissa, collecting dolls and enjoyed her dogs and traveling. She is survived by her children, Diane Osterland of Mansfield, Peggy Osterland of New London, David Osterland, William Osterland and Donald Osterland all of New London; daughter-in-law, Vicky Osterland of New London, 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and her brother, Stanley Olshewski. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frederick R. Osterland, Sr.; son, Fred Osterland, Jr.; granddaughter, Nicole Osterland; great granddaughter, Katherine Davidson and siblings, Michael, Edward, Jenny and Ann. Friends and family may be received from 6'8 p.m. Friday at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
