IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Anna
Whitehurst
February 4, 1928 – June 18, 2025
Dorothy Anna Whitehurst, 97, passed away peacefully at the Norwalk Memorial Home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Her daughter, Carol A Mason was in the recliner by her bedside.
What a tremendous gift!
Born February 4, 1928 in Rockville Centre, New York to George Stanford and Henrietta Anna Verity, Dot lived in Merrick, New York as a child. She married Donald Emerson Whitehurst (deceased) on September 22, 1951 in Oceanside, New York. They had four children, Paul (Shari) Whitehurst, Ocala, Florida, Carol (Brad, deceased) Mason, Huron, Ohio, John Whitehurst (deceased) and Richard Whitehurst, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The grandchildren were the joy of Don and Dot's lives. Nicole Wood, James Whitehurst (deceased), Kimberly (Brian) Young, Michael Mason (deceased) and Kristina (Kyle) Perna. Dot loved her grandchildren, which she watched grow and get married, providing her with nine amazing great-grandchildren, five boys and four girls. She also had two great-great-grandchildren.
The Whitehurst's lived in New York most of their lives and retired in Port Richey, Florida where they had a home for over 20 years. Dot was a homemaker but as the children got older she
worked as a Ward clerk in Smithtown, New York. As a Pastor's wife she was active in many churches teaching Bible classes and serving others. Many lifetime friendships were made and treasured throughout the years.
Dot will be missed by all who knew her. The Norwalk Memorial Home was her place of residence since November 2024 and she was loved by the staff and Doris, her roommate.
Prior to that she lived in a condo at Hunters Glen in Norwalk, Ohio.
Since many of Dot's friends have passed, her wishes were to have a family service at the graveside. It will be held privately on Friday, June 27, at Woodlawn Cemetery, at 11:00 am with Pastor Sara Hodsden, First Presbyterian Church, Huron, Ohio. The service will be a joyous time celebrating Dot's life here on earth and her everlasting life with her Lord.
