Obituary

Dorothy Mae (nee Waite) Wright, age 92, of Wellington died Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Elms Retirement Village. She was born May 25, 1915 in Oberlin. Dorothy lived in Pittsfield Township until her marriage on October 6, 1935 when she moved to Wellington. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1933. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served 30 years as Church Board Secretary; the United Methodist Women and Mary-Martha Circle; a charter member of the Needlepoint Unit of National Needlecraft Guild since 1943; a charter member of Town & Country Women's Club, which was founded in May 1959; the Senior Citizen's Club of Wellington; the Spirit of '76 Museum in Wellington; and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was the secretary of the Wellington High School Alumni Association for 30 years, and was very proud to have attended every Alumni Association meeting since graduating 74 years ago. She is survived by three sons, Howard (Barbara) Wright of Tennessee, Maynard (Carolyn) Wright of Amherst and Ralph (Karen) Wright of Wellington; one daughter, Barbara (Robert) Lindsey of Dayton; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Franklyn, her parents, Archie and Ella (nee Jordan) Waite, and brother, Robert Waite. Friends may call Tuesday, May 13 from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 127 Park Place, Wellington, with Rev. Lea Mahan officiating. Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Wellington or to the Wellington Senior Citizen's Bus, 115 Willard Memorial Sq., Wellington, OH 44090.
