Douglas L. Herbkersman, of Collins, passed away unexpectedly. He was 75. Doug was born in Lakewood to the late Russell and Marie Herbkersman, and was a graduate of Westlake High School. Doug was very devoted to his daily Bible studies. He knew God's love for us all and the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. He enjoyed making wine and made several flavors of wine which his family and friends enjoyed at get togethers. He enjoyed riding his bike, gardening, fishing and hunting. He attended the annual wagon train ride through Amish country with his friends. Doug was a meat cutter for 7 years, had worked at Tenneco Inc. for 37 years and farmed for many years. Survivors include his loving wife of over 55 years, Judith (Weiland) Herbkersman; children, Dan (Marcia) Herbkersman of Collins, Kathy (Cody) Walker of Estes Park, CO, Amy (Bruce) Fessenden of Norwalk; grandchildren, Brett, Rachel, Ruth, Bella and Luke and siblings, Donna Washburn of Vermilion, Glenda Holmok of North Olmstead and Nancy Rozell of North Ridgeville. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Zip, who went everywhere with Doug. Doug was preceded in death by his parents. A private burial will take place in Hartland Ridge Cemetery. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
