Obituary

After a hard fought battle with cancer, Doug passed away peacefully on January 4, 2018, in the comfort of the home he built. Doug was born on August 30, 1955 in Lodi and was a 1973 graduate of Western-Reserve High School. His laugh was contagious, he was a good friend to many, and he would do anything for others. Doug had a nickname for almost everyone he knew, had a brilliant mind and could fix almost anything. Some of his biggest accomplishments during his career were while working as an electrical lineman and foreman of the water and sewer department for the Village of Wellington. He helped install the sewer line from the industrial park to the sewer plant and was instrumental in building the Wellington Recreational Park. Doug enjoyed cooking for Big Dog Catering and especially for his family. He shared his dad's love for operating heavy equipment and was most recently employed by Poggemeyer Design as a sub-contractor. One of Doug's final goals was to restore a 1959 D17 Allis Chalmers Tractor which he completed with the help of his brother Duane and many friends and relatives. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patty (nee Miller); four daughters Erin Thompson, Ashley Rebillot, Lauren Tedesco, and Megan Johnson, all of whom he was very proud of; his mother Colleen Johnson; brother Duane (Jackie) Johnson and sister Lisa (Eric) Robson. He dearly loved his sons-in-law Eric, Ryan, John and Megan's friend Cyle. The apple of his eye was his grand daughter Mallory "Mal-Mal" and soon to be baby Tedesco. Doug was preceded in death by his father Richard Johnson and sister Lynn DelMedico (nee Johnson). Friends and family will be received on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington from 4-7 p.m. where services will be held on Monday beginning at 11 a.m. Donations in Doug's memory may be directed to the Wellington Rec Park, 115 Willard Memorial Square, Wellington, 44090. Expressions of sympathy and fond memories may be shared online at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
