Obituary

Douglas Alan Stoner, 73, of Mansfield, died Friday, May 14, 2021 at University Hospitals in Cleveland. The son of the late John Milburn and Mary Jane (nee Simpson) Stoner, Doug was born on January 7, 1948 in New London.  He graduated with the New London Class of 1966. For 34 years, Doug served his country in the Air Force as an Electro Enviro Specialist.

Following graduation, Doug joined the Air National Guard Unit at Mansfield Lahm 179Th Air Force Base. After 14 years he was activated to full time Air Force and retired with 20 active duty years. While in the Air Force he worked as an electrician on C-130. Through his service Doug was able to take many trips around the world from Asia and Europe, to the Middle East and South America.

A carpenter by trade, Doug found enjoyment working with wood. He was a member of the Elks, the Eagles and the American Legion. Truly proud of his military service, Doug was passionate about supporting the military and made a hobby of learning interesting military facts. Doug also enjoyed bowling and cherished time spent with his family.

Survivors include his children, Angela (Sam) Paulin, of Sunbury, Amy Stoner, and Allison (Nathan) Wilson, both of Versailles Kentucky and grandchildren, Sammy, Brianna, Tyson, Gage, Shelby, Zachary, and Travis. Doug was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell L. Stoner.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London.
