Obituary

Dr. Duffie Mae Todd, age 77, of Elyria, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain in Amherst. She was born October 3, 1931 in Ashburn, Georgia, daughter of the late Willie D. and Corine (Mitchel) Burns. Dr. Duffie moved to New London in 1940. In 1950 she moved to Mansfield and joined the Greater St. John Church of God and Christ under the Pastor ship of the late J.E. Ward. She then moved to Elyria in 1958. She was a minister in the Pentecostal church for many years. She had been a foster mother in Cuyahoga County. She was a member of the Lorain, St. Mary Chapter #24 Order of the Eastern Stars. She is survived by her sons, William M. (PoJo) Brehland of Lorain, Cleveland Todd, Jr. of Marion, Caleb Todd of Clarksville, TN.; her stepdaughter, Elizabeth Chester of Elyria; her stepson, Donnie E. Todd of Delaware, Ohio; her sister, Ruth (Eddie) Howell of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Cleveland Todd, Sr., her son, John Todd, her stepdaughter, Donna Duncan, 6 brothers, Willie Moses, Jimmy, Charlie Joe, Willie D., Jr., Willie Gene Burns and Eugene Burns, 4 sisters, Corine Love, Margie Burns, Barbara Jenkins and Lillie Mae Burns. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Callout Church of the Almighty God, 709 W. River St. S., Elyria with Elder Willie Gardner officiating and Bishop Willie Cooper is presiding. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery, New London.
