Obituary

DuWayne E. 'Dewey' Cowhick, age 49, of Sullivan died Friday, August 31,2007 at Akron General Hospital following a short illness. DuWayne was born September 25, 1957 in Ashland. He attended the Medina County Career Center and was a 1977 graduate of Black River High School. As a youth, DuWayne was involved with the Boy Scouts of America. Following graduation, DuWayne became a carpenter and built houses for several years. He was employed at the Sullivan Tin Shop. Mr. Cowhick was a member of the Wellington American Legion Post #8 and the Wellington VFW Post #6941. DuWayne enjoyed camping, golfing, and four wheeling. Survivors include his two daughters, Laura and Brenda Cowhick, his mother,Betty Cowhick, and a sister, Barb Saidla, all of Sullivan. He is alsosurvived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cowhick was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Sue (Hoffman) Cowhick in 1994, his father, Charles Cowhick, a brother, Charles Cowhick, Jr., a brother-in-law Frank Hoffman, Jr., and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cowhick and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Miller. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, September 4 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St., Wellington. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
