Obituary

Earl Warren Butler, 87, of Sullivan, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at this home. The son of Marion John and Olive Grace (nee Freeman) Butler, Earl was born in Wellington on July 1, 1926. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1945 and was a member of the Ashland College Class of 1951. Earl served his country in the Army during WWII and was stationed in the Pacific. Following his military service, he worked for Cleveland Steel. Earl retired from Rockwell International. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles and Masonic Lodge in Wellington. Earl enjoyed watching football and taking family hunting and fishing trips to his cabin in Canada. Survivors include his children, Joyce (Larry) Jordan of Sullivan and Richard (Pat) Denbow of Wise, Virginia; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; brothers Clyde A. (Joyce) Butler and Kenneth R. (Shirley) Butler both of Amherst, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Joreta and a brother Paul. Visitation will be held at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 12 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service with Rev. Tom Keller officiating.
