Earl Lawrence Sengstock, 78, of Norwalk, died peacefully at Norwalk Memorial Home on January 20, 2014. He was born on December 26, 1935, in New London, son of the late Harry and Ellen (Minor) Sengstock.
He grew up on the Townsend Farms and enjoyed working on the family farm as a child. He was an alter server at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London. Earl graduated from Townsend Wakeman High School in 1955. He was a 4 year basketball player, earning the Toledo Blade Player of the year honors his senior year. Earl attended Tiffin University. He married Joan Schneider of Clarksfield in 1958. Together they lived in Collins, Milan, Clarksfield, Columbus, Port Charlotte, FL and returned to Norwalk in 2008.
Earl worked as a pressman for the Rotary Printing Company in Norwalk, he worked in the reactor at Plum Brook in Sandusky and was a pressman for Foster Business Forms in Columbus.
He was a 43 year member of AA and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Earl enjoyed playing and watching sports, family time, dancing, Elvis Presley and socializing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Sengstock; children, Jeffrey (Marci) Sengstock of Shiloh and Shelley Fannin of Norwalk; grandchildren, Nikki (Vinod) Gorla of New Haven, CT, Cody Fannin of Norwalk, Joshua Sengstock of Greenwich, Elizabeth (Joshua) Rivers of Marion, Lydia Sengstock of Greenwich, Rachel (Ty) Johnson of Shelby and Mara Carrico of Columbus; 5 great grandchildren, brothers, Joe (Jean) Sengstock of Elyria and Steven (Glenna) Sengstock of Elyria and sister-in-law, Sally (Richard) Mumford of Jacksonville, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Kay Stine and granddaughter, Courtney Brooke Fannin.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at St. Paul Catholic Church Social Hall, 30 Milan Avenue, Norwalk with Father Recker officiating.
