Earnest David Kennell Sr., 70, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 after a short illness. He was born on September 15, 1942 in Pennsylvania to the late Clyde Andrew and Jessie (nee McCartney) Kennell. Earnie grew up in Washington, PA, and worked on his family dairy farm until being enlisted in the United States Navy and serving in the Vietnam War.
Earnie retired from Shaw trucking this last September. He was a lifetime member of the Lorain VFW. Earnie enjoyed fishing and spending time working around his house and yard. He also liked to work on his John Deere tractors, a model M and A. Earnie also enjoyed sitting back and watching his crime scene TV show.
Earnie is survived by his wife of nearly 10 years Pearlean; children Shelly Kennell of Strongsville, Roxanna Munoz of Fl, Earnest D (Nancy) Kennell Jr., of Strongsville, Robert (Becky) Kennell of Lorain, step-children David (Jamie) Mate II of Spencer, Alexander (Macenzie) Mate of Vermilion, and Andrew Mate of Lorain; 18 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Clyde Kennell of Columbus, Ruby Tubb of CA, Gloria Plants, Sylvia McVehil, and Kenny Kennell all of Washington, PA. Earnie was preceded in death by his first wife Lucile (nee Raber) and a sister Cathy Bell.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, April 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main, Wellington, with services on Monday beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery.
