Edith L. Vayda, 82, of Wellington, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 surrounded by her family. Born in Moorhead, KY on August 13, 1933, she is the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Mary Alta (nee Phillips) Wallace. As a child, Edith's family moved to Lorain County and she spent most of her life in the area. Edith enjoyed spending time outside in her garden, loved canning and was talented at crocheting and quilting. Above all, family was the most important thing to Edith; she took great joy in organizing many family reunions and functions. She greatly enjoyed exploring her family's past through genealogy. Edith loved children, she baby sat for many years and was also a foster parent. Edith is survived by her children Linda (Bill Price) Denny of Wellington, Richard (Doreen) Vayda, Jr., Brenda (John) McGrew, of Elyria, and Wendy Vayda of Columbus, GA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Shirley Miller, Lenville Wallace, and Stanley Wallace. She was preceded in death by her son Randolph Vayda in 2013, as well as brothers Jessie, Ed, Paul, David, Freeman, James, and Chuck Wallace, and sisters Dorothy Stafford and Gracie Jenkins. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington with Pastor Noel Hack officiating.
