Edna Mae Williams

Feb 14, 1930 — Aug 15, 2026

Edna Mae Williams, 96 year old resident of New London, passed into the arms of Jesus with family at her side on August 15, 2026.

Edna, who many knew as Mae or Mamaw, was the daughter of the late Willie and Laurie Hamilton. She was born on February 14, 1930 in Betsy Lane, KY. Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband Stallard in September 2003. Mae and Stallard had five children: Helen Frith, Sandy Pylant, Ted Williams, Debby Collins (Mike), and Carol Leibolt. Mamaw Mae dearly loved all her 19 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 21 great, great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three son-in-laws (Ritchie, Graeme and Wayne), five great, great grandchildren and her siblings Everett, Clarence, Freddie, Carlie, Nancy and J.D. Hamilton. Surviving are her brother and sister-in-law Ed and Eloise Hamilton and sister Juanita Case.

Her deep love, sacrifice and commitment for family was displayed early on in life. She dropped out of school in the 8th grade to help care for her siblings when her mom became ill. This pattern of caring and nurturing carried on to the very end of her life. She was ready to go to heaven but admitted she felt she needed to stay and take care of those around her. Once we convinced her that we would care for each other, it did not take her long to reunite with all of those she had been longing to see.

One of those she had been longing to see was a handsome young man she met at the Barn Theater in Kentucky. Back then soda was only a nickel which is shocking to some of us but shocking to Mae was that handsome young man’s name- Stallard. She had never heard of such a name! Mae and Stallard married on September 14, 1946. They treasured their many years together and we are all grateful to know they are together again in a place where there are no more goodbyes.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, August 18, from 10 a.m. until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London.  Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park.
