Edward E. Smedley, 60, a longtime resident of the Wellington-Wakeman area died Jan. 12, 2010 at a hospital in Alabama following a long illness. He was an employee of GLW Broadband before his illness. He loved hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Smedley is survived by a brother, Dan Smedley of Alabama; three sisters, Cathy White of Wakeman, Lois Holzhauser and Dawn Bartish of Wellington; son, Edward Smedley, Jr. of Wakeman; daughters, Dawn Smedley of Mansfield, Crystal Hutchenson of Wakeman and Allyssa Smedley of Wellington; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Peggy Smedley. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m until the time of memorial service at 4:30 p.m on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington and a graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington, with military rites.
