Effie E. Cummings, 81, of New London, died at home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.  She was born on January 30, 1942 in Preece, KY, the daughter of the late Ernest and Eunice (Goble) Moore.  Effie was a 1959 graduate of Warfield High School.

Effie was employed with National City Bank for over 20 years and worked in customer service at the Home Depot in Medina for another 20 years.  She was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London and helped provide bake goods for funeral dinners.  Effie enjoyed traveling and being outdoors, especially tending to her gardens.  She liked to paint and do needle point.

Effie is survived by her three daughters, Catherine (Randy) Rarden, Cynthia Crowder, both of Brunswick, GA and Constance Cummings of New London; grandchildren, William Hales, Christine Burkhart, Josephine Cummings, Jessica Jordan and Sierra Cummings; 8 great grandchildren; sister in law, Ann Moore of Niceville, FL.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Cummings, son, Joseph E. Cummings: grandchildren, Bethany Mae Cummings-Rarden and Christopher Hales and brother Elmer Moore.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Avenue, New London.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.; the Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m.  and a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, New London.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the New London High School baseball program in her grandson Christopher Hales name, 2 Wildcat Drive, New London.
