Eileen Mary Barman, 92, of Norwalk, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, on May 15, 2025, with family by her side. She died after a lengthy illness and a broken heart after losing her husband and soulmate, Gilbert 6 years ago. She was born on November 18, 1932, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Agnus (Conney) and Leonard Smith. She graduated from Norwalk St. Paul High School in 1950.
Eileen was a stay-at-home mom until her children were in school, and then she was a waitress, and then head cook at the former L&K Restaurant in Norwalk. She then worked at Norwalk Furniture, retiring in 1983.
Eileen was on the Steering Committee that formed the Norwalk Crisis Pregnancy Center, "Abigail", in 1990.
She enjoyed making wood crafts with her late husband. He would cut them out and she painted them. They did many craft shows together over the years. She devoted her life to God and her family.
Eileen is survived by her children, Gary (Stella) Barman of Norwalk, Vicki (Dave) Cronk of Norwalk, Barb Castello of Norwalk, Dave (Londa) Barman of Pickerington, and Steve (Diana) Barman of Canton, Michigan; brother, Clarence Smith of Norwalk; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gilbert Barman, brother, Paul Smith and sister, Mildred Greenwald.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to everyone at the Carriage House, the Norwalk Memorial Home, and Southern Care Hospice, for being so kind to their mom and family throughout the last five years.
