Eileen M. Thornton, 89, of Wellington, died Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Elms Retirement Village. Born on June 27, 1934, in Geneva, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Lila (nee Morgan) Stokes. Eileen grew up in Geneva before moving to Elyria. She and her husband eventually moved to Florida and then to South Carolina before returning to Wellington in 2012.

Eileen worked for a model airplane factory in Elyria for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, George. Eileen loved her garden especially her roses. Her favorite place was sitting in the yard soaking up the warmth and sunshine.

She is survived by her children, Sonny Stokes, Lisa Copeland, and Allen Fitzgerald, all of Wellington; grandchildren, Justin, Kyle, Chris, Diamond, and Dante; a great grandson, Riley; and siblings, Janice, Raymond, and Bud. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, George Thornton; daughter, Brenda Tinsley, and a brother Paul Stokes.
