Elden "Red" Eastman Sr. of Willard passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at his residence. He was born July 21, 1933, in Willard to the late Leila (Newman) and Wayne Eastman. Red was a graduate of North Fairfield High School and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the Huron County Sheriff's Department, a Police Officer for both Greenwich and North Fairfield Police Departments, Greenwich EMS and Akron Standard Molding. Mr. Eastman was a 65 year member of the F&AM of Ohio, American Legion in North Fairfield, and the Willard Moose. He found happiness in life's simple pleasures, from casting a line fishing to discovering treasures at garage sales, trying his luck scratching lottery tickets, and cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers. Above all, his greatest joy came from leisurely rides and cherished moments on the front porch with his beloved wife, Carol. Red leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and fond memories.
Mr. Eastman is survived by his wife Carol (Ratliff) Eastman; 5 children, Elden Eastman Jr. of Willard, Tim (Judy) Eastman of Norwalk, Tammy Henry of Plymouth, Kendra (Allen) Beekman of Ashland and Karen (Tad) Fox of Twinsburg; 11 grandchildren, Justin, Tiffany, Heath (Vicki), Lauren, Katie, Anna, Chris, Dawn, Charlie, Angie and Chad; siblings, Ellen Danhoff of Willard, Elaine (Kenny) Williams of McClure and Mary Lee (Charlie) Longwell of North Fairfield; as well as many nieces and nephews, who brought joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Earl, Herbie and Rolland Eastman, and his daughter, Kathy Greer.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm Monday, March 24, 2025, with funeral services beginning at 4 pm at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main Street, Greenwich. Military rites will be held at the funeral home following the service and is being conducted by the Greenwich American Legion. Online condolences may be made at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
