Eleanor Maxine Ketchum, 96, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Chapel Pointe in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, a retirement community of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. She was born on August 29, 1916, in New London, daughter of the late Carl and Mabel Ketchum.
Eleanor was a graduate of New London High School class of 1934 and of Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. She also attended Ohio University, Bowling Green State University and the University of Colorado in Boulder. Her thirty-three years of teaching were in Atlanta, Georgia, Berea, New London and Wellington.
She was a charter member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of New London and also a charter member of the Henry Chapel in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Eleanor held membership in the National Education Association and while in Ohio, the Lorain County Teachers' Association. She was also a member of the Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Norwalk Art League.
Eleanor is survived by her nephew, John Copley of New London and niece, Joyce Heitchel of Walkerton, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her sister, Clara Copley.
