Elsie Prongay, 89, of Norwalk, OH, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2021, at home.  She was born on July 1, 1932, in Lackawanna, NY to the late Albert and Erna (Sickau) Schwarz.  She had lived in Hamburg, NY until 1974, Huron, OH for 42 years, and most recently Norwalk, OH since 2015.

A member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elsie was a church secretary for 22 years at Zion Lutheran Church in Huron, OH, and poll worker for 26 years for the Board of Elections.

She enjoyed knitting, gardening, traveling, family history and trying new recipes.  Elsie loved to cook and take care of her family.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Herbert Prongay of Norwalk, OH; daughters, Linda (Lloyd) Long of Elmore, OH, Julie (Timothy) Swavely of Lorain, OH, Ann (Michael) Adams of Norwalk, OH and Karen (Albert) Terenzi of Huron, OH; grandchildren, Melanie (Jason) Moore, Lisa (Luke) Twarek, Suzanne (Ray) Bucalo, Theresa (Mike) Clinker, Jennifer (Andrew) Kilbride and Bryan (Shannon) Adams; several great grandchildren, and her nieces and nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Albert Schwarz in 2016.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, OH on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 11 a.m. until the time of the 1 p.m. service with Pastor Ann Marshall officiating.  A private family burial will take place at a later date in Milan Cemetery.  Memorial contributions, if desired may be made to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, OH 44857 or Southern Care Hospice, 9501 US Hwy 250 N.
