Emerson Eugene Laney Sr, 84, of Wellington, died Saturday August 3, 2019 at the Elms Retirement Village. Born in Locust Grove, GA, on December 6, 1934, he was the son of the late Alvin and Stella (nee Ragland) Laney. Emerson proudly served in the United States Air Force and the Ohio National Guard.

Emerson was a welder and worked for Air Maze. He enjoyed classic cars and good music. Emerson will be remembered as a sharp dresser. Most of all he cherished his family and time spent with them.

Survivors include his children, Trina (Eddie) Karban and Emerson "Toot" (Neressa) Laney Jr; grandchildren Gabrielle, Cassidy, Demetrius, and Dominique; great-grandchildren Antonio and Rosalina; and siblings Alvin Laney Jr, and Frankie Hendricks. Emerson was preceded in death by his loving wife Wilma.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Wellington VFW, 207 N. Main Street, Wellington for a time of fellowship beginning at 12 pm with military honors at 1 pm.
