Emmagene L. Jackson, 93, of Norwalk and formerly of New London died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a short illness. She was born December 29, 1915 in Licking County to the late John W. and Artie Mae (VanWinkle) Frost. Emmagene lived in Mansfield, Columbia Station and the New London area until moving to Norwalk.
Emmagene married the late Sam Jackson in 1936 and became a life long 'farmer's wife.' She was a member of the Farm Bureau and the National Audubon Society. Emmagene enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid nature lover. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Donald (Jane) Jackson; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by half brother, John Frost; half sisters, Shirley Shoemaker, Charlene Weaver, Gladys Cochenour, Maxine Davis and Mary Jane Phillips; foster brother, Harry Blackburn, Jr.; foster sisters, Naomi Giehl and Mary Elaine Wharton. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Sam Jackson; daughter, Joyce Marsh; grandson, Tony DeSanto; brothers, Russell Frost, Everett Frost, Clyde Frost, Grover Frost, and Earl VanWinkle; sisters, Goldie Ridenbaugh and Mary Wright; half brothers, Donald, Paul and Raymond Frost; half sister, Leontine Mullick; foster brothers, Ted Mallott and Gerald Hoovler; foster sisters, Eileen Daly and Gladys Coey.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Eastman Funeral Home, New London will be in charge of arrangements.
