Obituary

Ernest Aubrey "Aub" Rickel, 93, of Wellington, passed away on Thursday, February 06, 2014. He was born on September 16, 1920 in Polk to the late Iva Mae (nee Bailor) and Guy Rickel. Aub attended Wellington High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in England during World War II. He later owned and operated a wholesale egg distribution Co. Aub was a member of the VFW and a past member of the Wellington Eagles. An avid outdoorsman, Aub loved boating, mowing, golfing and caring for his yard, and spending time in his cottage on Lake Erie. He also enjoyed visiting with friends in Florida. Above all Aub was a loving and devoted husband. Aub is survived by his sister-in-law, Frances Rickel of Elyria and many nieces and nephews including Jill Lance of Columbus, Robert Dybo of Elyria, Marcia Shirk of Omaha, Dan Hawley of Sullivan and Joanne Bauer of New London. He was preceded by his wife of 66 years, Jean (nee Hardy) Rickel, and siblings Beulah Ward, Muriel Sugaski, Duane Rickel and Harold Rickel. Burial will take place at Greenwood cemetery, Wellington, at a later date. The family suggests donations be made to the Wellington Office on Aging, 115 Willard Memorial Square, Wellington, or to Well Help, 127 Park Place, Wellington. Arrangements have been entrusted to Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, and condolences may be expressed online at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com
