Obituary

Ernest G. 'Whitey' Fannin, age 85, of Wellington, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Elms Retirement Village, Wellington. He was born January 4, 1925 in Lennox, Kentucky, son of the late William M. and Cloa (nee Adkins) Fannin. Ernest had lived most of his life in Wellington. He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Whitey had worked at Wedge Wire Manufacturing in Wellington as Plant Manager then retired from Moen Inc. in Elyria. He and his wife developed, owned and operated Panther Trails Campground in Wellington. He also enjoyed farming. Whitey was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wellington, a lifetime member of the Wellington V.F.W. and a member of the N.R.A. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his children, Marty Fannin and Kathy Van Deneynden, Marlene (Richard) Slosier , Gayle Marie all of Wellington, Jon (Lynne) Fannin of Oberlin; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, his brother, Burt Fannin of Collins, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (nee Easterday) Fannin in 2002, his siblings, Olive Lucal, Betty Betts, Audrey Smith, Edna Ujvari, Carl and William 'Bill' Fannin. Friends and family may call from 6 ' 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Norton ' Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St., Wellington. Friends may also call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 512 North Main St., Wellington with Rev. James Reymann officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Memorials, if desired, may be mailed to Marlene Slosier, 239 Forest Street Ext., Wellington, Ohio 44090 with checks made payable to Well-Help, Inc. in Wellington or one of their favorite charities.
