Obituary

Ernest William Marion, 71, of Brighton, died Monday, November 18, 2013 at the New Life Hospice Center in Lorain. He was born on July 8, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Bert and Loretta (nee Holliker) Marion. Ernest grew up in Chicago and was a 1960 graduate of Calumet High School, he received a BS in physics and math from the University of Dubuque, and a Masters in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. He has lived in Brighton for the past 35 years. He also served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Ernest worked as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service at the FAA in Oberlin. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 8, and Wellington Eagles 2051. Ernest enjoyed playing euchre, fishing, reading, and working on crossword puzzles was a part of his daily routine. He also liked to travel. Ernest was a strong supporter of the Wellington High School Wrestling program as well. Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marilyn (nee MacDonald); his mother Loretta Marion of Phoenix AZ; sons Scott Marion of Columbus, and Keith (Jennifer) Marion of Spokane WA, and a granddaughter Scarlett. He is also survived by his sister Jane (Wendell) Bray of Phoenix AZ. He was preceded in death by his father Bert. A Memorial service for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, November 26, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Brighton United Methodist Church, 51011 State Rt. 18, with Pastor Tina Siroki officiating. A private burial took place at Brighton Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to the Wellington Performing Arts Center.
