Ervin Franklin Steffen, 91, of Ruggles, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Brethren Care in Ashland. Born in Raymond, MN, on August 27, 1920, to the late Oral and Ida (Lottman) Steffen. Ervin moved to Elyria as a young boy and during grade school he moved to Ruggles.. He and his wife, Delora worked side by side on their family farm. Ervin served as a Ruggles Township Trustee for nineteen years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Delora (Strickfaden), whom he married September 23, 1947; children, Richard (Rebecca) Steffen of New London, Janet (Don) Hootman of Polk, Barbara (Paul) Boll of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Carolyn (John) Cicillian of New London and Sharon (Ron) Ringler of Polk; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and sister, Laura (Dennis) Hickey of Ashland. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Friday with a Rosary service at 7:30 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Avenue, New London with Rev. Doug Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in New London.
