Esther L. King, age 84, passed away at her home in Norwalk, on Friday, March 18, 2016. Born July 27, 1931, in Wellington, to the late Russell and Louise (Beauchamp) Jordan, she was a graduate of the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. She lived in Wellington and Norwalk. Esther worked as an RN for 40 years, and at one time was the Assistant Executive Director of Oberlin Hospital. Esther was a member of the First Congregational Church. She also served on the Wellington zoning committee. She was one of the originators of the Wellington Junior Women's League. Esther presided over the "Executive Estates" condo association for more than 20 years. Esther enjoyed baking and cooking food, especially from scratch. She liked flowers, antiques and politics. She was very devoted to her family and was good at communicating with everyone. She also liked her pets, especially her companions (cats) "Maisie" and "Mildred". Esther is survived by her daughter, Betsy King of Norwalk; siblings, Carole Adkins of Norwalk and Sidney (Ardith) Jordan of Wellington; niece, Sandi Styer of Lexington, KY, and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; daughter, Kathy; sister, Doris and brother-in-law, Jim. Her family will greet friends from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Brian Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
