Eugene 'Gene' Collins, 78, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Cleveland Clinic. The son of the late Oscar and Bessie (nee Steel) Collins, Gene was born in Floyd County, KY on October 27, 1931. Gene lived in Wellington for the past 45 years and worked as a foreman for Sterling Foundry. Gene was a member of the Wellington Eagles. He enjoyed cookouts with his family and bird watching. Survivors include his wife, Dellavene Boyd; son, Dwight Collins of Wellington; 1 grandson, Tyler Collins and 3 sisters. Gene was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother. Friends and family will be received on Friday, November 6 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service with officiant Rev. Lea Mahan. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
