Obituary

Eugene R. Missler, 84, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Willows at Willard.  He was born on November 18, 1940, in Bellevue, Ohio, to the late Theresa (Reiderman) and Philip Missler.

Gene graduated from Bellevue High School.  He and his loving wife, Theresa (Claus) Missler, moved to Norwalk in 1962.  He was a talented automotive technician, where his skills and kindness served him well for many years at Don Tester Ford.

Gene enjoyed fishing, bowling, car shows where he showed off his 1946 Chevy Fleetmaster, camping trips and family vacations, and breakfast with his buddies at The Invention Restaurant in Milan.  He was gentle and giving, and loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A man of deep faith, Gene was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.  He would also visit the Sorrowful Mother Shrine anytime he or anyone he knew needed extra prayers.  He was also a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, was active with the Norwalk Jaycees, and a Boy Scout Commissioner.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Theresa (Claus) Missler; children, Kevin (Vicki) Missler of New London, Karen (Steve) Heydinger of Norwalk, Ken (Gracie) Missler of Norwalk, Kristin (Rod) Walliser of Norwalk, and Keith (Joann) Missler of Albany, OR; grandchildren, Nicholas, Travis, Stephanie, Jessica, Aaron, Danielle, Nicole, Kurt, Michaela, Marissa, and Krystopher; 12 great grandchildren; and siblings, Andrew Missler of Willard, Vi Jacobs of North Baltimore, and Gerry Missler of Bellevue.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his siblings, Clinton Missler, Marjorie Carroll, and Marvin Missler.

Gene's visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.  The funeral Mass will be on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Norwalk Catholic Schools, 93 E.
